Everything We Know So Far
Every official development update and blog announcement from ConcernedApe, cross-checked against major games media. Updated through the May 2026 dev update.
ConcernedApe unveils Haunted Chocolatier with a gameplay trailer showcasing the haunted castle, ghost shop assistants, snowy wilderness gathering, and combat with shields and bows.
A new blog entry and interview reveal multiple ways to craft chocolate — a whimsical “intuitive” method alongside more conventional, mechanical processes. Atmosphere described as more mysterious and dark, “but not in a bad or spooky way.”
ConcernedApe confirms the Haunted Chocolatier world will be larger than Stardew Valley, and that fishing returns. A Sept 2025 blog notes he is focused on HC and that it could even release before Stardew Valley 1.7 — with no window set.
A candid update reassures fans: HC is not abandoned and will not be folded into Stardew Valley (separate engine), Stardew updates are not a testing ground, and there is no 2030 commitment — “the game will come out when it’s done.” New screenshots included.
A further update goes deeper on systems, including how dialogue choices will meaningfully guide player relationships and town progression. Reaffirms a solo, no-release-date development pace.
ConcernedApe checks in from the “vertical-slice” stage: most major systems are wired up, and he is now stitching the slice together into a coherent playable build. Reaffirms solo development and the “come out when it’s done” stance — no release date.
